Cass Participates in Dream It. Do It. Minnesota Tour of Manufacturing Day

Dream It. Do It. Minnesota Tour of Manufacturing DayThursday, October 5th was a fun day for us at Cass Precision Machining. Our participation in Minnesota’s Dream it. Do it. Minnesota Tour of Manufacturing Day resulted in Cass hosting about 100 10th through 12th grade students and 10 faculty members from local schools. After welcoming students to the Cass campus, Cass President, Jim Garvin gave opening remarks about career opportunities in precision parts manufacturing. From there, we split into smaller groups for a four-stop tour of selected areas within our five-building campus. Upon completion, we rallied the students around an exhibit that featured a few of our customers’ more exciting vehicular products, along with displays of the parts that we manufacture for each vehicle.

We were proud to host the students and teachers and to give them a thorough tour of our campus. For Manufacturing Day, the students were eager to learn and asked a lot of inquisitive questions about not only what we manufacture, but how many of our career paths led us to our current positions at Cass. We were impressed by the level of engagement and interest the students had in manufacturing—some of whom may be interning for us soon! About Dream It. Do It. Minnesota Tour of Manufacturing Day

The Dream It. Do It. Minnesota Statewide Tour of Manufacturing Day is an opportunity for schools, families, and the general public to get a chance to see how modern manufacturing is high-tech and innovative.

Dream It. Do It. Minnesota is led by the 360 Manufacturing Center of Excellence. 360 develops the future workforce through Dream It. Do It. Minnesota. As a consortium of 15 institutions led by Bemidji State University and including 14 other technical and community colleges, 360 is designing a 21st century education system that prepares individuals to have rewarding careers in manufacturing and meets the needs of the region’s manufacturing employers through an enhanced pipeline, industry-driven curriculum, and authentic assessment.

It was a great experience for the Cass team to have taken part in the “Dream It. Do It. Minnesota Tour of Manufacturing Day”, and to see our guest students connecting—for the first time in many cases—to an opportunity for an exciting career path in manufacturing.
